Commissions/sculpture – terms and conditions
For bespoke projects and commissions please contact us via the contact page with your ideas and brief. If this is something that we can assist with we will then arrange a consultation to discuss this with you.
An initial consultation fee is payable to discuss your design in detail and an initial drawing will be included in the fee of £250. This price includes two minor alterations (any further changes are chargeable at £30 per hour). On acceptance of your quotation, this fee will be refunded from the final balance. (This fee is non refundable if an order is not placed)
Should a structural engineers report be required for your project, this would be outsourced and would be invoiced direct to the customer. At this stage your quote may need to be amended if the structural engineers report requires any alterations to the design/specification.
Delivery and installation costs vary dependent on the size of the commission and on its location. This will be included in your tailored quotation.
A 50% deposit is payable on acceptance of the quote.
The balance will be required to be paid in full prior to delivery/installation.
The agreed lead time is typically 8-10 weeks from acceptance of the quote (this is dependent on the complexity and scale of the project) and also on our current work schedule but you will be made aware of this prior to placing your order.
Bespoke Projects
Creating sculptures for your garden or business
from the heart of the National Forest
We take commissions for many different types of projects, working both directly with clients or with other garden design and memorial professionals.
A large proportion of our projects focus on memorials. We are able to create personalised, bespoke pieces to fit your briefing. Our corten memorial trees are a popular option, whether on a large scale or a modest tree for our own garden. We offer a personalised sensitive service from design to completion.
We are able to make personalised pieces, whether it be a tribute to a loved one or one of your beloved pets.
We are also passionate about garden art and décor. We can create bespoke fencing or a statement piece for you.
Our pieces are made from both mild steel and from corten or weathering steel. Corten has become a very popular material used by garden designers and can be seen in many award winning gardens at RHS shows. Its unique and attractive warm copper colours, ranging from the intense and bright rusty red to a dark warm tone, compliment the garden perfectly. It can be used for bespoke structures, steps, retaining walls, cladding, edging and planters. The Angel of the North is made from corten.
Corten is made with alloys which oxidise to cause its surface to develop a stable self-protecting rust like appearance when exposed to weather. The insulating patina resists corrosion, requires no painting or weather-proofing, and doesn’t compromise structural strength. It outlasts mild steel by many, many years.
We are also able to make pieces out of other mediums including wood.
Spadework memorial tree
We were approached by Spadework charity to make a large 3 meter tall memorial tree from Corten weathering steel. It has a branch span of 2.9 metres. This tree has 600 holes for leaves. The leaves are a mixture of gold, silver and bronze colours.
Water trough and blade
Our brief was to fabricate a water trough for use as a water feature. This was made in 5mm mild steel with a 25mm solid bar edge. It was then galvanised to finish and the interior was coated in glass fibre. We also fabricated a water blade in 10mm mild steel which was also galvanised and treated to give an aged appearance.
Stone and Corten bench
We were recently commissioned to fabricate a bespoke bench using stone sourced from the customers garden during excavation work. We made a chunky base to mount the stone using corten weathering steel.
